These cheese dishes at D.O.P. Mozzarella Bar will make you drool

There’s a great new mozzarella bar in town, and the dishes there are so tantalising that just looking at them will surely make you salivate.

Don’t believe me? Read on to find out more!

1. “Make Your Own” Antipasto ($28++)

As you can tell from the restaurant’s name, D.O.P specialises in mozzarella, particularly buffalo mozzarella from the restaurant owner’s hometown of Campania. But it is not just buffalo mozzarella they sell.

There are other mozzarella options such as smoked buffalo mozzarella, home made burratina (made from cow’s milk instead of buffalo milk) and burrata, which is fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream. Try these with the “Make Your Own” antipasto selection, where you can pick one mozzarella, one side dish and one cold cut.

2. Stewed Italian Octopus ($19++)

Essentially octopus imported from Italy slow-cooked with capers and olives in a light tomato sauce, this tasty dish is one of D.O.P’s best-selling appetisers.

3. Mozzarella Ball ($15++)

This appetiser is another one that has found favour with the diners for obvious reasons. Imagine a deep-fried crispy mozzarella cheese ball that, after you cut into it, reveals melty insides with Parma ham, sun-dried tomato and basil. How can you not love it?

4. Homemade Gnochetti ($22++)

For pasta, try their homemade gnochetti with porcini mushrooms and walnuts, tossed in a creamy and delicious mascarpone cheese sauce.

5. Homemade Scialatielli ($25++)

Love truffle? Then you must definitely order their homemade scialatielli (a kind of thick and short pasta that resembles linguini or fettuccine). The pasta is tossed with black truffle and served with melted caciocavallo (a stretched-curd sheep or cow’s milk cheese that comes in a teardrop-shaped rind). What’s even more special is that the pasta is served warm in the cheese’s hard edible rind.
