5 great indoor garden ideas for your apartment

Who says that just because you stay in an apartment with too little space or no balcony, you’ll never be able to have your very own garden? Where there’s a will, there’s a way, my friend. If you really want your own little private garden, a garden you’ll get.

How? Simple. An indoor garden. Create your little garden in your apartment itself. Is it feasible? Of course it is! And there are many creative ideas out there for you to conceptualise your beautiful little indoor garden.

Here are 5 great ideas for an indoor garden:

1. A Portable Garden

Using a trolley as some sort of a moveable planting shelf is a great idea, especially if you intend to grow herbs for cooking. You can move this portable garden around when you want to bring some herbs to the table, and you can also easily shift your plants to a sunnier spot if you feel that your plants need more sun.

2. Plants in Hanging Pots

Instead of flowerpots, I mean actual cooking pots. The prettier ones of course, not your old, rusty and unwanted pots (though I suppose depending on your decor, that could work too). Tie the pots up securely and hang them on the ceiling.

3. Mount Mason Jars to Wall

This is a little more difficult to execute, but if you are one of those people who is very handy with tools, you will probably be able to nail this with little difficulty (pun intended). But if you are not good with DIY but you really want to have something like that in your house, don’t despair. Just go to Etsy and do a search for “mason jar planter” and you’ll find many similar items quite easily.

4. Indoor Gardening Shelves

If you’ve always dreamt of having many plants in your house, indoor gardening shelves will be great for you. Essentially, this simply means picking out a nice shelf for your plants, and then arranging your potted plants on them. This the perfect “indoor garden” for plant lovers.

5. The Great Plant Divider

A combination of a gardening shelf or rack and a divider, this is a creative and useful way to grow and display your plants, while also using the “garden” as your divider in a room. For example, this plant divider can be used to divide the dining area from the living area in a five-room flat.

If you cannot find a divider to hold your shelves like the above picture, a shelf such as this Kallax shelving unit from IKEA will work too ($179).
