How To Get Ready To Be The Very Best In Pokémon Go (Singapore Edition)

IT’S FINALLY HERE!
The long-waited Pokémon Go has finally arrived in Singapore!
No more fake-Go games and GPS spoofing shenanigans! Let’s (Pokémon) Go and catch them all!

Starter Pokemon

How to get a Pikachu
When you enter the game you will arrive at the screen as above. Stay patient and not get distracted by the Pokémon trio around you! Instead just walk away from them for around 5 minutes. Soon you will find a Pikachu waiting for you to catch!

Pokestops

Ways to load up on PokéBalls, Pokémon, and Eggs

PokéStops are the best places to get more PokéBalls. These PokeStops are landmarks where you can see in real life which will be marked with blue signs in your PokéMap.

How do you maximize efficiency?
Go somewhere with a cluster of PokéStops near each other. PokéStops regenerate items every 5 minutes so as you walk between these PokéStops you can collect items. Try to catch the Pidgeys or Weedles that you will meet while walking!
We personally tried to walk around in our HDB neighbourhood and it worked really well!

Forget about training up your Pokémon
At the early stage of your game, leveling up yourself is the most important task. It takes A LOT of stardust and candy to train up a young Pokémon. In addition, as you level up it would get easier to catch high level Pokémon. It would be wiser to save the resources and use it on the right Pokémon to train up in future.

Special Pokemon

Where to find special Pokémon?
Understanding what habitat the Pokemon likes can help you locate the places where they are more likely to spawn.
For example, Water Type Pokémons are commonly seen near the water sources like the reservoir and beaches. As an island city, Singapore has the advantage of being surrounded by the sea which means easy access to water type Pokémon. East Coast Park, Sentosa, Marina Bay Sands are all landmarks that should be in your roadmap for Water Type Pokemon hunting.
Furthermore, it is may be hard to get high CP Pokémons at home and around office buildings. Many high CP Pokémon are found at high profile landmarks like the Marina Bay and Orchard Road.

Gyms

Teams and Gyms
When a Pokémon Trainer reach Level 5, he or she can choose to join a team – Team Mystic, Team Valor or Team Instinct. Certain landmarks are converted into “Gyms”. These are places where you can practice with friends or battle with rival groups. Take control of the Gym to build up your team’s dominance.
Gym defenders receive Stardust and Pikachu Coins. Depending on the Gym Prestige, the more Pokémons defending the Gym, the more experience you will get if you attack it.

Transportation and Vehicle Assistance
We gave PoGo-ing on moving transport a try. As long as you are fast enough, you can just sit back and relax on the vehicle and catch Pokémon. Truly an efficient way to catch different variety of Pokémon in different parts of Singapore.
